Veterans are celebrated after they return home from active service. They receive utmost respect and appreciation. However, there has been a gap in what can they do after they return home from service. Most of them picture an early retirement, but this is not always the case. The United States of America has one of the largest military forces in our world. As per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20.4 million veterans were accounted. Furthermore, the Bureau of Labor Statistics found the jobless rate of veterans declined from 4.3% to 3.7% in 2017. Even with this improvement, it still leaves a lot of veterans unemployed. Civilian people are not fully aware of the capabilities of veterans outside of a military environment.

There are several misconceptions about veterans after active service, and most of them are harmful. One misconception is how all veterans suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after service. This leads to the assumption the veterans have violent tendencies and cannot be fully trusted around people. This notion is wrong on many levels, and not all with PTSD are incapable of having a job.

Veterans having no skills fit for a job outside the military is another misconception which affects how many employers think.
